Marcel J. Gesmundo was born and raised in southwest Michigan. He attended the University of Cape Town, S.A. and the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Marcel then studied law at Lewis and Clark Law School. During law school, he co-authored a law review article on comparative international environmental crimes, volunteered with a local non-profit enforcing state and federal environmental laws, interned at Trout Unlimited and clerked for the complex litigation department of the California Superior County Court of Alameda County. Upon graduating from Lewis and Clark with distinction and a certificate in environmental and natural resources law, Marcel was inducted into the Cornelius Honor Society.

Marcel has practiced as a litigator for the past five years. In 2011, he started a law firm that focused on environmental litigation. Over the past years, his practice has shifted to real property, commercial and residential leasing and landlord tenant law. At Bittner and Hahs, he advises clients on legal developments, negotiates cost-effective resolutions to disputes and advocates for his clients at trial and on appeal. Marcel particularly enjoys the attention to detail and procedure, persuasion and presentation required for each trial.

Apart from his practice, Marcel enjoys exploring the splendor of Oregon’s forests and coast with his wife and son.
